Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I can't quite believe it, but I did it! Yesterday I ran the Dublin marathon for my mum's cancer charity - MyelomaUK. It was tough in places but I had a really great day and managed to complete the course in 4 hours and 33 minutes so I am feeling very pleased with myself .... as well as a little bit tired and in pain!
I lost my mum to myeloma - a cancer of the bone marrow - earlier this year. Having been diagnosed 15 years before, she put up a long and brave fight and, during those years was lucky enough to take part in a number of trials of new drugs and treatments. I know that she was a strong believer in MyelomaUK and the work they do - supporting people with myeloma and their families and friends, as well as raising awareness of the disease, funding research and campaigning for trials and introductions of new treatments.
I was always telling mum that I was going to run a marathon so it carries extra menaing for me this year to have finally got on and done it in her memory. And don't worry, you're not too late! you can still sponsor me now!
Thanks a million to everyone who has already sponsored me, and to those who came out to cheer for me and keep me going on the day ... it made a really big difference.
