Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Whether you are visiting to sponsor me for the great climb up Machu Picchu or because you are interested in the efforts of Project Peru, I welcome you!
This is all about long-term fundraising for a deserved charity and not about a test of personal endurance. I hope to continue generating funds for Project Peru long after I finish the run.
This summer I will be leaving my job and travelling to Peru… to volunteer at a children’s refuge in a shanty town called Zapallal, north of the capital Lima. The refuge is run by Project Peru, a totally voluntary UK registered charity that offers provides food, clothes, shelter, education, fun and healthcare to the children living at the refuge, and support for the orphaned and disadvantaged children of the area. The charity was established in 1992 and has grown largely due to the work of volunteers from the UK. Whilst in Peru I will be doing living in the refuge and sharing daily life with the children. I will help with the day to day running of the refuge as well as teaching the children and helping maintain the buildings. MY Spanish skills must be improved.... The aim of our stay in Peru is to help, with a team of Peruvian builders, to build a small refuge in another nearby shanty town where such a facility is desperately needed. Project Peru has agreed to help with this. Funds are urgently needed to enable us to purchase building materials for this very practical and ‘hands on’ initiative .We will also be involved in helping out in a community ‘soup kitchen’ in the same shanty town where many adults and more than 350 children are provided with their one meal of the day. Essential new construction work is currently being undertaken, to accommodate more children and to expand classrooms and other facilities. This calls for more funding. On behalf of Project Peru I would be grateful if YOU could offer a contribution to this project. All money raised will go directly to the charity, and any donation, no matter its size will make an enormous difference to the children at the refuge and to the community of Zapalla. See www.projectperu.org.uk for more information on the amazing work the charity does.
Have a look at all the good work Project Peru do and Im sure you will be willing to part with some cash. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to give: Project Peru will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please be generous and help make a difference!
Many thanks for your support.
