My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On 13 September, I will be part of a crew setting off from the Humber in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. Ten crews will race from Europe across the Atlantic Ocean to South America, on to Africa, Australasia, Singapore, China, across the Pacific Ocean, to the USA, through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean, on to the east coast of the North America and back across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe. We are due to return to the Humber in July 2010. At more than 35,000 miles the Clipper 09-10 Race will be one of the longest ocean races ever. We will face a mixture of long, tactical ocean races where endurance is tested to the limit and short, technical sprints. Weather will range from virtually flat calm to raging seas and storm force winds. You can read more about the route here:

I'm using this as an opportunity to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance service. It costs in the region of £4 million a year to keep the helicopters airborne and being independent of Government funding, the continuous funding needed comes from the generosity of the community, businesses and friends of Devon.

Thanks very much for all your support.

Katherine
