Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Hi everyone it is now 8pm Saturday 10th May 2008 and we have finished our Walk. Myself, my sister Anna and Nicks partner Emma did over 10k in memory of Nicholas in order to raise funds for our charities and hopefully some awareness of suicide. Physically for me it was easy peasy [don't know if i'll still think that tomorrow]. Emotionally it was another thing but this was made easier too by having my sister Anna and Emma by my side and thinking of my other 3 children whom I am so proud of for their courage and closeness during this turbulent time. Anyway enough of that. We started out just after 10am and headed for Sainsburys Winchmore Hill. We handed our letters to the Manager there and then onto Asda doing the same thing. We then walked along Chase Side Southgate towards Cockfosters right onto Bramall Lane towards Oakwood Station, Oakwood Park, through Winchmore Hill up Station Road on to Grovelands Park through Broadwalk ooohhh lovely houses posting some of our letters on the way. Out onto Bourne Hill back towards Southgate Station which ended our walk. [I'm sure i've missed some but thats the main points on the walk]. This was by now 2.30pm but we had stopped a few time for photographs at the various points which i hope [if i've done it right] you can see by clicking on 'photos'. I would like to thank you all for your brilliant support and feel humbled by all the response received along the way. Emma walked for Papyrus a charity for the prevention of young suicide and between us, to date, we have raised over £1000 and hopefully still more to come so watch this space. You helped us so this is your site too.... PS please click on www.flickr.com/photos/nicks-walk/ for photos of the day. Love Kathy xxxx
Myself and Emma will be doing a charity walk on 10th May [Nicks birthday] and thought this would be a great way to raise funds for SOBS so that it can help families that have lost loved ones in the way that we have. There are children out there that are left without a parent, or a partner without their loved one, parents without their child or brothers and sisters without a sibling.
It is a terrible terrible shock to lose someone and hopefully your support will enable the charity concerned to give all the help it can. We have been to some of these meetings which are run by all volunteers who have been through the same trauma and unfortunately this 'thing' is bigger than you can ever imagine. Nicholas was everything to us and it is a long old road to walk knowing he is somewhere else other than right here with us all. Hopefully we will find some strength from 'doing something'. I will update again after walk Thank you again
