With my collecting cans, offline sponsorship and gift aid and justgiving page ,makes the training and pain all worthwhile xxxxxxx
Completed my first (and last) marathon on Sunday in 4hrs 59 mins, The whole day was fantastic from start to finish. Weather was hot. Team Kaye were great supporters, dotted around the miles with banners and flags, screaming my name as I flew past them (OK jogged slowly past them) If anyone interested the 2010 marathon registration starts Monday 27 April!!!!!! Thanks again to everyone for messages of support over the last couple of days. I shed a few tears knowing you were all rooting for me. Thanks for visiting my page. To those of you who have already sponsored me many many thanks for your very generous donations and all the lovely cards.
Where has the last 6 months gone???? Yes in a moment of madness I applied for a place in the London Marathon and was shocked but delighted to be offered a place with the Help the Hospices charity. Every year I watch the Marathon on television and admire the people that turn out for such an amazing event. Although no fancy dress costume for me (Me in my very bright Help the Hospices vest is more than enough and yellow is certainly not my colour!! )It is something I have always thought I would like to do before I turn 40 (Yes it is a long way till I turn 40) It is going to be hard but I am loving the challenge. I chose Help the Hospices as I am involved in raising money for our local hospice at Strathcarron, in Denny. Unfortunately Strathcarron Hospice couldn't afford to pay for a charity place for me, for the Marathon so by running for Help the Hospices charity Strathcarron will benefit along with many other hospices in the U.K. Strathcarron Hospice needs £45,000 a week for running costs. While they get money from the NHS, they heavily depend on donations. All Hospices are only partially funded by the Government so the rest they have to generate themselves, through their own charity shops, sponsored events, fetes and fund raisers like me so I am sure you will agree this is a very worthwhile charity I have picked. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Hospices gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
