Yay! Mission accomplished! Ben Nevis has been conquered!

As you can see from the photo on the left, a team of The Bethany Children's Trust's supporters, trustees and staff made it to the top of Ben Nevis on Saturday after a 5 hour hike up the mountain! The weather started off sunny and clear offering spectacular views across the mountain range and lochs. Scotland is a truly beautiful country! However half way up the mountain, rain and thick clouds enshrouded us. By the time we got to the final 300m of the ascent, snow and 40 mph winds greeted us! Needless to say we did not hang around at the top for very long! We took a few quick photos and headed back down the mountain. 4 hours later we arrived wearily but triumphantly on terra firma! Climbing Ben Nevis was an awesome experience and a great team effort with extremely dedicated people!

Thank you very much for your generous sponsorship and kind support. I really do appreciate it and so do BCT's project partners caring for and transforming the lives of orphans and vulnerable children across Africa.

It is still not too late to sponsor me. If you would like to donate you can do so via this fundraising page. However I will need to submit all my sponsorship money to BCT by mid-June 2009.

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Welcome! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I started working with this extraordinary charity in January 2008. I co-ordinate the charity’s support to our 12 Church-based project partners across Africa located in Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda and Zambia.

On 16 May 2009 a team of The Bethany Children's Trust supporters and I will climb Ben Nevis, the's highest mountain peak (1,344m).  We're taking up this challenge to raise much needed money for the projects BCT helps to support. All funds raised will go directly to the projects caring for children affected by extreme poverty, HIV & AIDS, disabilities and conflict. We aim to raise £20,000 as a team and my personal target is £1,000… but hopefully more!

Having visited each of the projects (with the exception of ) I assure you that they are doing tremendous work, the volunteers work selflessly to transform extremely vulnerable children’s lives. To give you a flavour of the projects’ work: In Kinshasa, DRC, project volunteers trawl the city’s streets that are home to over 40,000 children, to rescue children off the streets and reintegrate them into their families’ homes. Churches in rural Rwanda provide holistic care to hundreds of HIV positive families. They have set up children’s and adults support groups where people find hope and help. They have also started running income-generating projects enabling people to help themselves and lead fulfilling lives. Community-based rehabilitation support groups in Zambia are transforming over one hundred disabled children’s lives, bringing them out of isolation in their homes and into the community. Children also receive corrective surgery to greatly improve their physical mobility.

You can visit BCT’s website for more information on our work: www.bethanychildrenstrust.org.uk

Please help to make my walking all over theSouth Downs in preparation worth it!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Bethany Children's Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please dig deep and sponsor me. I really appreciate your support!

THANK YOU!!
