Story

Hi All,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for our bike ride ‘Pedal for Pounds’ in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance appeal

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance came to real prominence two years ago after rescuing BBC Top Gear’s presenter Richard Hammond following a serious car accident during filming. Both Richard Hammond and the hospital that treated him, attribute him being alive to the work of the YAA.  They were able to take him (at great speed) to the right hospital that could treat his injuries.  They are truly incredible people who help people every single day.  However, they are a charitably funded group and to keep them up in the sky they need £7200 per day.

The football club I support; Huddersfield Town are proud supporters of the YAA’s ‘Keep it Up’ campaign.  We carry the YAA logo on our jerseys’ and the club are helping to raise cash and profile for the YAA with activities throughout the years to come.

Before the fixture list was announced, Huddersfield Town’s new owner (Dean Hoyle) and Commercial Director (Sean Jarvis) announced they would do a sponsored bike ride to the first away game wherever that would be. They gave the ride a nice name; ‘Pedal for Pounds’ and then asked a few other people (including me) whether we’d like to join them.  We are all occasional cyclists who like a meander every now and again on our bikes so said yes and were all looking forward to a nice ride to Leeds or Oldham at under 30 miles.

Then the fixture list came out.  At which point we were amazingly happy to see that Southend (230 miles /368 km away) was our first away game and the destination for the Pedal for Pounds ride!

After getting my head around this distance and the amount of Sudocrem needed for such a journey (!) I felt the YAA more than deserves the 3.5 days (between Aug 5th & 8th) of saddle soreness for the amazing work they do!

I am therefore asking you please to dig as deep as you can and sponsor me on this journey.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.

Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Many many thanks for your help.  I hope to see you all again!
