Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. I have already raised my initial target of £950 but I'm still taking donations! Every pound raised now is a a pound for the Centre.
I've done the ride now and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. Many of the other riders are or were competitive cyclists but they supported me through thick and thin.
The ride goes from Holyhead to Cardiff over five days at an average of 50 miles a day and twice reaching a height around 500m(1600ft). The total ascent is 3648m which is a bout 12000ft! You can see the whole route here. You can learn more about my experince by going to my blog.
Bobath is a joined-up treatment regime for people with Cerebral Palsy. The Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales offers this treatment to children across Wales. Children and parents attend the centre for blocks of treatment when professionals from different but complementary disciplines devise ways to minimise the effects of the child's impairments and teach the parent techniques for coping with the problems that arise.
I did this ride as a way of celebrating my 60th birthday and getting fit again after receiving treatment for cancer in the last year. I chose the Lon Las '08 ride because I had seen some of the children at the centre which is right next to the hospital where I was treated.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bobath Childrens Therapy Centre Wales will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
