Update: Thank you all so much for your support so far it means everything to us and the hounds.

Also thanks have to go to Uri Geller - www.uri-geller.com  for offering his support.

Uri Geller, owned by Barney, an ex racing greyhound gives his backing to Greyhound Gap.
Uri understands the importance of finding a safe haven and a place for the dogs to find sanctuary until such a time as they can be rehomed.
Greyhound Gap deals with mainly death row greyhounds and lurchers from council stray holding facilities and prides itself in working with some very difficult rehabilitation cases. A property for them would mean much better scope and more dogs able to depend on their safety net. Greyhounds make wonderful pets.

Who we are and why we are raising this money.........

Thanks for taking the time to visit Greyhound Gap's Property Fundraising page.

Greyhound Gap are currently running at a strength of 40-60 dogs at anyone time. Whilst a smaller organisation this used to be done via using foster homes alone. Now due to increase in numbers we are paying around £2000-£2500 a month in private boarding fees to keep dogs safe from the risk of euthanasia.

Recently we started to search for a property to rent. During that time lots of lovely people sent us links to properties to buy. We have investigated this possibility and found that indeed it IS a possibility.

However, to put us in a position to do this we need to raise a 30% deposit. This is where this page comes in. We are asking you all to try and help us to find a 100,000 to donate £1 through various fundraising events throughout the UK. It is vitally important in the current economical climate we do not place too much pressure on any one person or particular group as well as take away from the usual monthly fundraising that continues to financially support the welfare of the dogs we rescue.

Having our own property and mortgage will allow us to take in and house more dogs, have better sanctuary facilities for dogs needing long term care and allow us to do more remedial behavioural work on site with the more difficult dogs meaning quicker rehoming potential and more dogs finding their way into our *safety net*.

Therefore we are asking you to consider giving £1 for a Hound!!!

We do feel it would be nice to acknowledge everyone who helps us and supports us in this venture so are asking that those who would like to be acknowledged let us know by means of an email. If the names of all those contributing to a £1 for a Hound are sent to us we will display them once a property is purchased in a specially bound book for all to see.

Can you bake muffins and take them into work and sell them for £1 each? This is giving something back to those who purchase and also including people who may not necessarily just donate a £1 to a greyhound rescue. Can you bake jam? Hold a going to work in your jeans day? Any small sponsored event? Will your company match fund anything you raise £1 for £1? Each £1 raised is a pound nearer our goal.

Also if you feel you can't hold an event but can happily donate £1 or get your friends and family to do the same again each £1 is a £1 nearer our goal of having a fully running rescue and sanctuary of our own.

Money paid through this page raised by tax payers makes it eligible for gift aid allowing us again to push nearer our goal. Money donated through this page will only be used as per charity commisions guidelines for a property deposit no other means.

The majority of the properties we have seen for sale that would suit our needs are NGRC registered commercial greyhound kennels on residential property. The added bonus of this is it turns a property usually used to house racing greyhounds into one coming full turn and offering a *safe haven* for those hounds discarded after their racing or working career ends.
