On 2 January 2010 I turned 50, and decided to do something to commemorate both this milestone and the life of a little girl called Ella. If you would like to know more about my endeavour, feel free to email me at kevin.hudson@kaplan.co.uk

The cause: Some of you will already know about Ella, the daughter of some friends of mine. Ella was diagnosed with a bone tumour on 6 November 2008, 2 months before her 11th birthday. She showed great courage and strength in coping with her illness, but despite the efforts of the medical staff at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Ella’s body failed to respond to treatment. Ella’s battle for life ended on Sunday 25 January 2009. Osteosarcoma is a type of childhood bone cancer which sometimes spreads, usually to the lungs or other bones. Sadly in Ella's case her first diagnosis revealed that she already had tumours in her lungs. There were too many for surgery and the tumours failed to respond to chemotherapy.
The event:
Offa's Dyke is the ancient boundary between England and Wales and is 177 miles long. I walked the length of Offa's Dyke in 12 days, starting on 23 May. Quite a challenge, and well-deserving of your support!
