My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Kilimanjaro JustGiving page.
You know what is needed here - I'm raising as much money as I can for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. That's the first challenge.
The second one is that I am now in training, even though the climb is not until September 2012. You can follow what I am doing on my blog.
This is a serious challenge of the mind, body and soul to which I am very much looking forward. This is the least I can do to support those families who face hourly challenges with their sick children. The training has already helped with my focus and each time I tire during my workouts, the thought of helping just one child be with his or her family for a bit longer, spurs me on.
I have given myself a year to prepare for this challenge, which I realise is perhaps longer than the average Donna Louise Children’s Hospice parent has to face their challenge.
Doing this is totally outside my comfort zone and is my biggest challenge ever faced. I hope to be sharing with you my story of success in my blog and would encourage other people to climb Kili for the sake of the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.
Please be generous in your pledges. The children that the Hospice supports have brief lives that are made much more happy and fulfilled by the great work that goes on there. The Donna Louise Children's Hospice needs £2 million every year in order to stay open, 24/7. I intend to do my bit to help realise that objective - can you help me please?

The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust

<b>The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust</b> provides respite for children with life threatening conditions and support for the whole family at the hospice and in their own home. Our hospice called Treetops, is based in Trentham, on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent. Here we provide respite and end of life care for children from all over Staffordshire and South Cheshire that are between the ages of 0 and 19 years and have a life-threatening illness. We provide a safe, caring environment where children and families can truly feel at home. <p> A community nursing team provide respite and end of life care to children and families within their own homes. <p> Currently the Trust cares for 160 children from South Cheshire and Staffordshire. Its annual running costs of £2 million are obtained mainly from public donations. </p>
