My story

This October we will be climbing the highest Mountain in Africa. At almost 6000 metres above sea level we will be risking both insanity and the insanitary.

Please support us. Help us raise money for a small but effective charity that is, via various education projects, enabling individuals and communities to climb out of poverty.  They are staffed exclusively by volunteers and have a motto "Elimu ni uhai", which means "Education for Life".  Dame Judi Dench is their patron.  For more information please refer to http://www.kiliproject.org/

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Village Education Project (Kilimanjaro) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please note that we are self-funding our full tour costs, so all donations received will go to the charity.

We thank you for your generosity.

KILI’S HEROES ARE:

Gavin Bose: The so called ‘organiser’ who once forgot his rucksack and all his equipment prior to commencing a 50 mile stretch of the Pennine Way. Oh and he once fell off the Old Man of Coniston whilst adjusting his Cup-a-Soup!

Joe Sharples: He is the inspiration for the term to ‘Joebag’. This is the act of surreptitiously dispersing one's belongings to fellow walkers to avoid personally having to carry a rucksack. Joe has also been known to place stones and sundry objects in unsuspecting friend’s bags.

Lorraine Richards: Lorraine mistook the SAS for a local ramblers group. Only the live ammunition aroused her suspicion.

Pete Higgins: Pete is the oldest of our party though not necessarily the wisest. He lives in Amsterdam half the week and is a qualified pilot (a well-used chat up line), hence getting up high in Africa will not be a problem for him!

Good luck Gav, hope everything goes well Love Pam & Darren Donation by Pam Snape 04/09/07
