Hey! You made it to my page - thank you.
I did actually sing a little Proclaimers as I walked along. It helped keep up the momentum.
As you can see I have DONE the 100 miles walk across the South Downs, from Winchester to Eastbourne. So now that I have done it you HAVE to donate to Cancer Research and The Esther White Fund.
The whole walk finished today at 5pm at beachy Head having started 8.30 this morning in Rodmell. Firles Beacon, Cuckmere Meanders, Alfriston and Seven Sisters were my favourite bits today. I hav e had trouble uploading pictures so sorry for not including updates. See them on facebook instead. This was the best days for views but the worst in terms of tiredness. The weather has been good tome. Met some lovely people, dogs and horses, cattle.... Thank you for taking an interest - your support is valued. This is what I did! Day 1: Saturday Winchester to Wether Down 28km Day 2: Sunday - Wether Down to Cocking - 26km Day 3: Monday Cocking to Washington - 28km Day 4: Friday Washington to Pyecombe 22km Day 5: Saturday Pyecombe to Rodmell/Southease - 22km Day 6: Sunday - Rodmell to Eastbourne (Seven Sisters) 27.5km
It's not too late to sponsor me. This page will be open until the end of September so please donate anything as soon as you can.
Why have I done this?
Sadly, in February of this year, Esther White, a lovely, talented young lady, who was a student in Edinburgh and a resident of Eastbourne, died. She loved to walk. She had a strong Christian faith and so she loved adventure and taken part in a few Christian ventures overseas. Her parents have set up a fund in her name to enable other young people to have the opportunity, like Esther, to experience the adventure of doing Christian work overseas. I thought it appropriate to end my walk in Eastbourne for this reason. Please visit their website for more info. www.estherwhitefund.org.uk. AND... Some of you may know a little of my own journey through 2008/2009 where chemo, surgery and hormone treatment have made me realise just how blessed I am. I have been given a precious few more years on this planet with my 3 lovely boys (yes, that includes Jason) because of the advances made in the treatment and diagnosis of a variety of cancers including breast cancer. I have been cared for by a great team of professionals at St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester and St. Mary's, Portsmouth: the oncology nurses are FAB (I almost enjoyed having treatment!) and I have grown to love them dearly.
Your sponsorship will help the work of the frontline doctors and nurses, as well as laboratory research to continue to develop treatment and diagnosis of cancers through Cancer Research: To use their slogan - Together we will beat cancer Your money will also help countless other people overseas through the Esther White Fund.
Give what you can - every penny counts. (And I ain't dun this for nuffin!)
