Hiya All!
WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! John o'Groats to Lands End in just 6 days! (7am Sat 12th - 6pm Thurs 17th September).
We were very lucky with the weather (bar a strong headwind on the first day), dry & sunny throughout.
The route (about 150 miles per day):
Day 1 - John o'Groats to Invermoriston (i.e. south of Inverness)
Day 2 - Invermoriston to Uplawmoor (about 7 miles south of Glasgow)
Day 3 - Uplawmoor to Kendal
Day 4 - Kendal to Bridgnorth
Day 5 - Bridgnorth to Wellington (just south of Taunton)
Day 6 - Taunton to Lands End
When did I first consider that I wouldn't make it? About 2 hours in on day 1 (headwind so strong at times I was only making about 6 mph pedalling downhill).
When did I really consider quitting? Day 3 (uphill all the way to Sanquar and my knee had exploded the day before). So we sent our support crew off to wait for us in Kendal (our target for that day) so that we couldn't get into the car for a lift.
When did I believe I really would finish? About 40 miles north of Penzance!
Would I recommend doing it in 6 days? Only to people I didn't like.
Would I do it again? Absolutely not!!!!
Thanks for all your support and for your generousity. We've raised a lot of money for Caudwell Children.
Cheers
Kim x
