is a link to a short video about the role of ‘mobile mums’ in the community. As you'll see, they visit, take food parcels, listen and care for the children in Sweet Waters and Edendale around Petermaritzburg, for whom we’re raising funds. (There are also images of the adopted 4-7 year old previously abandoned children playing in the Hope Centre)
You can see more about the HOPE CENTRE at www.loveisallweneed.org.uk
and the South African site to the Pietermaritzburg- based charity Tabitha Ministries has SA bank details, (though that website hasn't been updated for a while.)

Behind-the-scenes... Why the Kingston-upon-Thames Valentines Day Treasure Hunt?
Initially this treasure hunt was planned for Dec '07. (I got the idea after doing some supply teaching at a school in Kingston and popping into town after work to do some exploring/window shopping.) Due to a busy time of year and myself getting sick, it was postponed indefinitely.
In Dec '08 I was playing around with ideas, again, on ways to help the Hope Centre which my mom visits. While lying on my bed that night, the following verse popped into my mind. I was curious to see what it said, because I thought I was either making it up and it would be something irrelevant like a long list of names, or this would be from God and worth paying attention to. To my surprise, I read the following:
2 Corinthians 8:10 - I suggest you finish what you started a year ago, for you were the first to begin doing something about it.11 Now you should carry this project through to completion just as enthusiastically as you began it. Give whatever you can according to what you have.
(I have lots of ideas, but don't often see them through... that was quite a clear and direct suggeston... so I did: I chose Valentines Day as it's one of a few free Saturdays on our church calendar in that month and thought it would be nice for friends to be able to do something together on that day. When I contacted the Hope centre to get the contact details for a UK charity who also supports them, I found out it is called 'Love is all we need' Quite suitable to be in partnership with them for an event taking place on Valentines Day! We have now linked up and will be working in partnership as we share the same vision - and there's a better accountability system to get money to the Hope Centre in South Africa and claim Gft Aid this way, than handing me cash. I've also been able to have a few weeks extra holiday after Christmas which gave me the time to fine tune details for it.
Back to the verse.. As I read on, Paul gives the churches clear guidelines on giving and sharing and seeing this is the reason for the treasure hunt and is relevant to me and to you, I thought I'd share it too...
2Corinthians 8:12 If you are really eager to give, it isn't important how much you are able to give. God wants you to give what you have, not what you don't have. 13 Of course I don't mean you should give so much that you suffer from having too little. I only mean that there should be some equality. 14 Right now you have plenty and can help them. Then at some other time they can share with you when you need it. In this way everyone's needs will be met...
God's big father-heart loves the orphans and the widows passionately!
Thank you for your love, friendship, support and generosity!
Angela
