THE SHOWDOWN AT ST PAULS
27 October 2011. The night when the glorious few will stand tall amongst their Insurance market peers, risking their pride and catwalk good looks, to raise money for charity.
Myself and 6 others will have been ‘training’ hard (swapping lager for Guinness and beef for chicken) for 3 months by the time the big night comes around, hoping that we have all worked hard enough to leave the ring with our heads held high.
As amusing as being punched repetitively on my rather conspicuous nose is, I volunteered to take part in this event for the Alzheimers society, a UK care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. Dementia describes various different brain disorders that have in common a loss of brain function that is often progressive and eventually severe. It is a disorder that is irreversible in 90% of cases, affecting not just the impaired person but whole families who desperately need the support of charities like this.
Thank you for your support.
