Thanks for visiting the fundraising page of 'Kris the Castle'.
I will be running in the Mascot Gold Cup 2009 at Wetherby races on 26th April as the Keighley Mascot 'Cliffe the Castle' in aid of a worthy cause, Sue Ryder Care - Manorlands Hospice.
The Race is over the final furlong (220 yards) and visibility from within 'Cliffe' is not great so i'm a little concerned about the 6 fences that I must hurdle over along the way. As you can see from the photo and the attached video, Cliffe (with Adam Brunskill of Brunskill's Windows inside him) was leading the race at the half way stage last year but lost a shoe at the third which slowed him down and he finished a creditable 8th position. This year my aim is to help Cliffe get the podium place that keighley deserves in this event.
Before the race I will also be involved in the 'Best turned out mascot competition' and the competition to find the mascot that has raised the most for their good cause.
Should any of you wish to go to the races that day (and laugh at me), as official supporters of 'Cliffe the Castle' you are entitled to half price Paddock grandstand tickets to the full race day if you order in advance. To get a voucher to order these tickets please email andrew.wood@suerydercare.org and tell him you are a supporter of Cliffe. You will even be able to bet on me at the race course!
The most important thing though is that you might be good enough to sponsor me for doing this rediculous act as it is all in such a good cause. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sue Ryder Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
