Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

As part of a Computacenter team of 14 people raising money for Willow Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Children's Trust I will  be travelling to South Africa to build classrooms for a local community (yep -  a bit like Bob the Builder, I'll be building walls, mixing cement etc!!)

The team and I will be taking our own holiday, travelling on the 7th of November and returning to the UK on 15th. We pay our own deposit of £500 and our company generously pay the balance to enable us to split ALL our sponsorship money across our Charity partners and leave £500 per person for the community. So, if we all hit our target of £2500 per person, thats a wapping great £35000, which the company will then match. Potentially we can raise £70,000!!

Raising £2500 is a challenge in itself so any support I can gain, however big or small, will make a positive difference to a lot of lives.

Don't forget to tick the gift aid box - if you are a UK taxpayer (at no extra cost to you!) and the charities will get an extra 28%

Thanks very much for your support.

All the best, Kristian...the Builder!

Our charity partners:
Willow Foundation provide 'special days' for seriously ill 16-40 year olds.
The Children's Trust support children with multiple disabilities & complex health needs.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides support to people living with cancer.

About the challenge:
Education in KwaZulu-Natal is a challenge on many levels. There is an estimated shortage of 14,500 classrooms. Many existing classrooms are overcrowded, in poor condition and often have bad ventilation.

Project Build (a South African NGO) aims to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged communities. The charity establishes and maintains a highly effective participatory process between the community and the private sector. Project Build’s aim is to promote a more just and free society in South Africa, by helping disadvantaged individuals and communities to develop an increasing sense of personal worth, dignity and competence. And in the process of building classrooms and school related projects, the charity intend to build bridges between communities, improve the skills & career opportunities of previously disadvantaged contractors and create community employment and training opportunities

The community challenge provides an exciting opportunity for a team of individuals to travel and work closely with people of another culture and make a difference in their lives. Building classrooms for children is a unique experience that opens your eyes to the plight of those who do not have the basics that most of us take for granted.
