Story
Hello everyone
Well, I'm really pleased to say that we both completed the London Marathon yesterday. It was tough as it was such a hot day, but we made it. Andrew finished in 4.12 and I obviously allowed him a head start and came in at 4.43. We're both happy with our times though we didn't quite achieve our targets, but it's easy to set a target when sitting at home in comfort, then quite something else to deliver that at your first marathon!
It was an amazing day, and has only really just sunk in. The support from the crowds was incredible, and without the people thrusting Jelly Babies and mini Mars Bars at us in the last couple of miles I doubt we'd have made it. We were lucky enough that we had people to support us in the crowd, so thanks a million to my mum and dad, Clare, Laurie, Verna for their support and Doug for the much needed beer at the end! Luckily I managed to see them at the two places they watched and they even managed to take an action shot.
We couldn't have done all of this without you and your amazing sponsorship. We've now more than doubled our original target, as with this site and other fundraising we have made over £3500 for the Breast Unit at Derby Hospital. You've been brilliant - from individual sponsors, to cake bakers, coffee makers, and those of you who got blisters from the marathon bowling session! All of your contributions will make such a difference.
Hope to see you all soon - we might be walking more normally again then!
Thanks for your support. Clare and Andrew
