We educate Ghana's poorest children to help them escape poverty

Story

In 2005 I worked as a teacher at a vocational school for 16-25 year olds in rural Ghana. I saw at first hand the difference these schools make to the prospects of young Ghanaians. It was also apparent that the school fees, although tiny by Western standards, are prohibitive for many prospective students.

The idea is simple. One 90% scholarship, for one student, for three years, at each of the 14 vocational training schools in Ashanti, Ghana. The result: 14 fully trained students with greatly enhanced future prospects.

The means is a bit trickier. Starting on August 28th, I will cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats. South to North. End to End. 1000 miles.

Onechild (http://www.onechild.org.uk/) are a charity run by myself and other former teachers to support the vocational schools in Ashanti. We are non-profit making and incur no administrative costs in the UK. Of your donation, Justgiving take a nominal amount (see below), and 5% will be allocated to school administrative costs in Ghana. The remainder goes towards the scholarships.
