First a note: Any donation made is subject to gift aid, in short this means that the more you help us the more the government is obliged to. All donations will have 20% added by Her Majesties Revenue & Customs, that’s good of her isn’t it! The least you can do is pop a few quid in!
As you should know from the blog, we intend to lap the perimeter of India, beginning and (hopefully) ending In Chennai (Madras for those who know their Indian cities by curry) within 30 days. The plan is to complete this mammoth journey in the humble rickshaw (see image) not the fastest, safest, or most reliable run-a-round in the world but we like it!
We are raising money for ACTION VILLAGE INDIA. AVI work with 6 partner organisations across India. They provide funding for education through various projects. Our focus is on AVI’s work with two organisations in Tamil Nadu, close to Chennai, ASSEFA and Crusade.
The first offers education and funding to help make village life economically viable. This doesn’t sound too exciting but the basic idea is to give an alternative to migration to the cities and the slums. Further to this they provide medical care for many rural areas.
The second aims to give financial and medical support to abandoned women and children and works with individuals with disabilities to fill in government funding gaps.
Worthy aims I am sure you will agree!
