My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am fundraising for Share a Family - a small charity of which I am a volunteer and Trustee. They provide respite care for disabled children living in London and are at risk of closing down projects due to lack of funding.

I am seeking to raise £3,000 by April 2012 to buy some time, while longer-term, sustainable funding can be found.

Share a Family's services are a lifeline to the parents and children who use them. They organise monthly youth clubs for disabled children and link volunteers to families to provide short-term relief care. The service users of their domiciliary project - the first that would have to be cut - are children with profound disabilities, some of whom require care on a 3 staff to 1 child ratio at school. The opportunity for respite, even for just a couple of hours a week, is crucial for both the parents and children. And as Share a Family is the only organisation to provide this relief care free of charge, low-income families simply wouldn't have the option of a break if Share a Family is forced to close down.

I would be really grateful if you could lend your support in helping me to reach my £3,000 target by April 2012 and helping Share a Family continue to provide life-changing services to disabled children and young people and their families.

Many thanks

Laura
