Thanks for visiting my parachute fundraising page.
I DID IT AND SURVIVED!! The freefall was magical - it's a shame it had to end. Landed safely at 2:30pm on Saturday 13th September 2008 in a field near Bridlington, Yorkshire. Thank you to everyone who so generously sponsored me. Marie Curie is a great cause and it looks like we'll beat the new target of £1,000K.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
My father, Frank Lennon died at the incredible age of 99 on 4th May 2008 - only 6 months from 100!! He was a lovely Dad having worked all his life as a shopkeeper in Castlewellan, Co Down and cared a great deal for his wife and 6 sons. He was very sporty and actually played Gaelic Football in Croke Park, Dublin for his county in the 30's. He was very proud of his Irish roots, could speak Irish fluently and could tell a few yarns too about the good 'auld days in Aughlisnafinn. (Where?)
He was diagnosed as terminally ill in Feb. 2008 and in the last months, weeks and days of his life the Marie Curie nurses could not do enough for him and the rest of the family. I have already had a large number of pledges of up to £20 or more as people hold Marie Curie very close to their hearts. In fact, one very giving colleague joked: "what happens if you die, do we get our money back? Before I could answer she continued: "Oh don't worry! I'll just rifle through your pockets for your wallet!"
So please sponsor me now!
All the very best.
Laurence
