Story
Hi all, thanks for checking out my justgiving page!
I will be doing a mixture of activities to raise money for Tearfund, one of which being a 10k run on February 23rd with an organisation called Brutal 10. As suggested by the name their routes are gruelling- designed by the British Army there are lots of hills, mud and yes I think I might be walking through a through rivers! Here's the website to check out what I've got myself into:
If you would like to sponsor me with my run here is the place to donate :)
You may be wondering why I am raising money for Tearfund?
I'm due to go volunteering abroad for 10 weeks beginning in April with Tearfund via a scheme called International Citizen Service (ICS).

I will be going as a team leader to Rwanda to help with a project called Moucecore in Kigali. The project focuses on several areas including HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, agricultural techniques and training so that women can earn a sustainable income. The focus of the work I am due to do will be around water and sanitation (did you know globally it is estimated 780 MILLION people do not have access to clean water?) Most importantly counselling and reconciliation are at the heart of Moucecore's ethos in the wake of Rwanda's troubled past.

I'm hoping to raise funds for Tearfund in order to gain sponsorship from ICS to do my volunteering.
Tearfund strive to empower impoverished countries by supporting communities via local Churches and partners. They work in over 50 countries including Sudan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. At a brief glanceTearfund tackle issues such as:
Advocacy, Children, Church Mobilisation, Disasters, Environment and Climate Change, Gender, Governance and Corruption, Healthcare, HIV and AIDS, Integral Mission and Theology, Livelihoods and food security, Water and sanitation.
...yes they do LOADS! In the past 5 years alone they've transformed the lives of 15 MILLION people, making positive changes to their livelihoods, health, relationships and environment. It is also good to know that for every £1 they recieve in donations, 91p is spent directly on their humanitarian work (this compares exceptionally well with other charites as often a large chunk of donations go towards raising more funds!)
Take a look at their website if you'd like to find out more about them, each time I go on they continue to amaze me with the breadth and value of what they do...
Thank you for visiting my justgiving page. If you can afford it please donate a small gesture of your hard earned cash. I promise it will not only have a positive impact on me, but a larger picture of global poverty.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
