<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p> <p>Children North East&nbsp;is an amazing charity who do a vast amount of work&nbsp;supporting children, young people&nbsp;and their families to reach their full potential, "with an aim to support vulnerable people through difficult times and to counter the effects of inequalities".&nbsp;</p> <p>There are a range of projects set up to help integrate families and promote a happier family life such as 'Families Plus'.&nbsp; Their hiddden harm service deals with families where issues such as drug abuse, alcohol misuse, mental health issues and domestic violence are affecting family life.&nbsp; Children North East work with other partners in order to try and resolve these issues.&nbsp; They also work with ethnic minority groups&nbsp;and work to promote integration&nbsp;into society.&nbsp; There is also a separate project that works with&nbsp;fathers to them a guide on parenting.</p> <p id="n1">Children North East services are targeted to children, young people and families who are most in need or who live in the most deprived communities.</p> <p id="n2">One third of all children in the North East live in poverty and the number is rising due to the recession and changes in benefits. Cuts in spending on public services are likely to have a greater impact on these children than those in better off families.</p> <p>There are also projects which work primarily with young people such as the West End Youth Enquiry Service (WEYES) based in the West End of Newcastle, Gateshead Supporting Children and the Youth Link projects in Sedgefield, Tynedale and Blyth Valley.</p> <p>This is only a brief summary of the work that Children North East carry out in the region.&nbsp; I&nbsp;volunteer for the Youth Link project in Sedgefield and have done for almost 4 years and see first hand the difference that the project can make on a young person's life and their family.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <div id="ContextContentBody" class="edit"> <p id="n2">Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
