BRIGHT FUTURE FOR CHILDREN’S SERVICES

Leeds Teaching Hospitals are centralising Children’s Services into one location. All in-patient hospital beds for children will soon be based at LGI, solving the issue of seriously ill youngsters having to be transferred across the city.

Here in our services are second in size only to those at and we think that is something to be proud of.

New wards mean new beginnings and we want to make every child’s stay as wonderful as possible. We would love every child to have a ‘put-up’ bed beside them to allow a parent or guardian to stay in comfort. We want each bed to have a box of toys to help fill the hours our patients spend with us. It would be fantastic to leave the old VHS machines behind when the move takes place and provide DVD players and a variety of films to suit all children’s ages.

We want to make the wards, theatres, parent waiting rooms and day case sections child and family-friendly, too. We’d like to banish plain walls and put up art and pictures to cheer and bring pleasure to patients and their families. Then there’s the state-of-the-art medical equipment that every clinician would choose to work with if budgets allowed.

Our fundraising team wants to provide all of the above but needs your help to make it happen. The Radio Appeal with Radio Aire and Magic 828 is the start of this exciting project. We are immensely proud of what is now named Leeds Children’s Hospital and know that the people of will help us achieve our goals.
