THE NATIONAL LOTTERY LEGENDS SPRINT will take place at the Rowing World Cup on Saturday May 28th and is a re-creation of the final of the Sydney 2000 Olympic coxless four final which was won by the crew of Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Matthew Pinsent, James Cracknell and Tim Foster.
The silver medallists from Italy, bronze medallists from Australia and the other finalists from the USA, New Zealand and Slovenia are also expected to take part in the race to be screened live by the BBC.
All funds raised from this event will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme's projects to feed school children in areas affected by December's tsunami earthquake disaster.
It costs as little as ten pence a day to give children in poor countries a healthy meal at school. As well as providing food to those who might otherwise miss out on a nutritious meal, the WFP school feeding programme provides a gift of hope for a brighter future.
Funds raised by The National Lottery Legends Sprint - which is also supported by Elision, British Airways and the Marriott Heathrow - will go directly to the WFP's school feeding programmes targeting tens of thousands of children in the areas worst affected by the tsunami in Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
Every penny raised really will make a difference.
Thank you
Sir Steve Redgrave CBE
