Thank you for visiting our site.
This summer our team, LEGS 11, took part in one of the toughest events in the UK, Tough Guy – www.toughguy.co.uk. It involved a cross-country run followed by 2 laps of a weird and wonderful assault course where participants have to climb, crawl and clamber over, under and through a range of obstacles including knee-deep mud, fire, water, 40ft A frames and barbed wire.
It’s hard work but it’s also great fun & the camaraderie is immense because everyone is there to beat the course rather than each other!
You may well wonder why anyone would want to do this, well, we are running to raise money for the Neurosciences Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, who last year cared for my cousin, Michael following a major car accident, although sadly Michael passed away whilst at Addenbrooke’s the team on the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) made those hard days as easy as they could for my family.
To help future patients in the NCCU & their families we’re running to help raise money for a Portable CT Scanner. CT scans are crucial to the care & outcome of patients and it can currently take a team of NCCU staff an hour to move a very sick, ventilated patient to the static scanner putting a strain on both the patient & their family. The portable scanner will allow head scans to be performed by the bedside, saving time and reducing risk.
Half of the money raised on this site will be going to Tough Guy’s charity, Mr Mouse Farm for Unfortunates, who not only care for abandoned animals saving them from slaughter but welcome disadvantaged and socially deprived youths as well as mentally and physically disabled people to work and live on the farm giving them security and a new look on life.
PLEASE dig deep & sponsor us online or get in touch with the team for a sponsorship form.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is an efficient way to sponsor us and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you
