UPDATE
Hello! I got to Skegness at 11:05, 4 hours 46 minutes in the saddle. Conditions were cool, with a northerly headwind after Boston on the last 20 miles to Skegness. Tougher than the previous year, but still great fun. Thanks very much for your support again this year,
Best wishes,
Jon Durnin
Well it’s that time of the year again… For the fourth year running I am cycling the 84 miles from Leicester to Skegness (from Clocktower to Clocktower) along with around 150 other riders, and I am emailing to see if you would consider sponsoring me in this annual act of lunacy. I appreciate that I ask every year, but if you can, every little bit helps.
Last year I got to Skegness at 11am on the dot, 5 hours in total, 4 hours 35 minutes in the saddle, helped a little by the wind. This year I plan to arrive in Skegness by 11 am again, so let’s hope the conditions are as good!
50% of the proceeds from the ride, up to £15,000, will be donated to the LOROS, the Leicestershire and Rutland adult hospice with the balance being split equally between twelve local charities (Child Victims of Crime in Leicestershire, which Clare’s Dad does a lot of work for; Vista (support for blind people); Adapt (support for parents with poorly babies), Jasmine House (support for rape victims), Parkinson’s UK Leicester; Clash (local branch of arthritis charity); Prostaid (Local prostate cancer charity; Fidds (swimming for the handicapped); The Clinical Haematology Dept at the LRI; Leicester Diabetes Centre at The General Hospital; Age Concern Oadby & Wigston; & Coping with Cancer).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. If you would like to donate off line, please let me know.
Best wishes,
Jon Durnin
