In Sept 2009 I will be cycling from London to Paris in aid of Ataxia UK (http://www.ataxia.org.uk). I will be starting from Greenwich and finishing up at the Eiffel Tower. It is going to be a really tough challenge, covering approximately 350 miles in 4 days.
Jennifer Davies is my Sister-in-law and she suffers from Cerebellar Ataxia, which is just ONE of a group of Ataxia neurological disorders.
Early symptoms include loss of balance and co-ordination which can make those affected appear unsteady when walking. As Ataxia progresses it can destroy mobility and independence.
Ataxia affects both adults and children and there is currently NO CURE !!!!
By raising money we can provide GP's with clinical guidelines which will help them to make an accurate diagnosis of Ataxia, fund vital medical research and purchase items that will go some way to making life easier to live for people with Ataxia
