Thank you for taking the time to look at our fund raising page, it means so much too so many families that we continue to support the causes that are so close to our hearts.

As many of you will know, Lieutenant Aaron Lewis was killed on December 15 2008 whilst serving in Afghanistan with 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery when his base came under attack. Aaron believed not only in helping the less fortunate in Afghanistan but to make sure the rest of the World was safe from the terrible terrorist attacks and that future generations are free from such worries.  The members of the armed forces do this for us because they believe in a better World; they do this for us for no great financial reward; the job they do on a daily basis is completely selfless.

The “Citadel Memorial Fund” has been set up as a registered charity in order to dedicate raised funds into a specific memorial for the fallen Soldiers of 29 Commando Regiment RA, which will be located at their Regimental base in Plymouth. This Memorial will be ever present to remind us of the ultimate price that our soldiers pay for the defence of freedom.

David Pitt, father of 3 and Beverley Harvey, mother of 6 have decided to cycle from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland to raise money for the Citadel Memorial Fund in aid of Aaron Lewis who was killed on December 15 2008 whilst serving in Afghanistan with 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery when his base came under attack. David has taken time out from running his surveying company to train for this event and if you have met David then you will know the amount of effort that he is putting in so that he is able to complete the cycle in 2 weeks. Beverley works as an agency nurse during the week as well as taking care of her younger children while completing her training. Both athletes are neither avid cyclists nor professional sports people and to undertake such a challenging task in the name of something truly great, then they deserve our support.

The route comprises of 14 stages, ranging between 60 and 80 miles a day from Land’s End to John O’Groats amounting to nearly 1000 miles. The route takes them through fantastic scenery but many gruelling mountain ranges so it will be extremely difficult for the both of them, especially seeing as they are in their early 50’s, which is why I urge you please to make a donation for a worthy cause.

If you have any questions or queries regarding the journey or the charity then please feel free to contact either participant or Elliott Harvey on eharvey10@hotmail.co.uk
