About Lewis-Manning Hospice

Lewis-Manning is a voluntary hospice set in beautiful grounds overlooking Poole Harbour.  We aim to promote acceptance, hope and peace of mind in a safe and caring environment.  We know that when someone develops a life-threatening illness their life changes dramatically. It is our aim to ensure that local people are given access to the support they may need to help them cope with their illness and the changes it may bring.  We are increasingly caring for larger numbers of patients with illnesses other than cancer, such as Motor Neurone Disease and recently have extended our services to young adults in Dorset.

We provide palliative care to over 600 patients every year living in Poole and the surrounding area. Our three core services are;

Day hospice -  run by clinical nurse specialists, offering specialist palliative care including physiotherapy, creative arts,  aromatherapy and other holistic treatments
Lymphoedema clinic - for the swelling of a limb, sometimes caused by cancer or the treatment of cancer
Breathing clinic - for adults with breathing difficulties due to cancer of the lung.

All of our services are free of charge however, after our annual NHS grant it costs us over £40,000 per month to keep the hospice running so fundraising is vital.
