Hello!

Firstly thank you for visiting this page.  Those of you who don't know me I am the UK Director of Village-to-Village and on 11th March it's my birthday.  This year I want my friend, family and the charities supporters help me raise some much needed funds for some amazing children at an orphanage in Tanzania here's why..

As many of you know I went to Tanzania before Christmas and was delighted to see how well Village-to-Village's projects are running.  About a week into my trip I visited a nearby orphanage in the village of Hedaru.  The situation there is awful.  When I arrived the kids hadn't eaten in three days and at the time any foods that were donated were being distributed amongst a group who were supposed to be looking after them.  Since my visit we are paying the wage of a live in carer at the orphanage to look after the children and make sure any food or other donations are secure.. Unfortunately there is still no regular food supply and the nearest source of fresh water is a long walk.

There are currently two options under review.  The first is to build a well.  By building a well at the orphanage we can help address two of the problems.  A fresh water supply which would reduce the need to travel and would importantly provide the orphanage with a small income by selling water to people living nearby.  The money raised would enable thee carer to buy food.  So as you see digging a well is a very enterprising and sustainable solution!

The second and preferred options is to find sufficient funding to place the children into nearby boarding schools where they could be cared for and given the opportunity to receive a proper education.  However this is a costly undertaking and would ensure securing a substantial amount of funding to put all 10 children into full time education until the age of 18.

Without any money though we have no options! So please dig deep into those pockets and whatever you can manage is fantastic!

And thank you,

Libby

PS It cost roughly £1000 to build a well and £600 for one child's entire secondary school education.
