Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I am glad to say that I finished the London Marathon in 5hours and 31 minutes. I'm very pleased to have finished the marathon without to many side effects apart from being very tired and a bit sore and stiff.
Thank-you for your support.
As I have had psoriatic arthritis for the past four years, I have decided to fundraise by running (and walking) the marathon for PAPAA.
Before I showed any signs of PA, I ran regularly, and I participated in races ranging from 5k to marathon. In fact in February 2005, I was running as well as I had done at any time in my life. I was very pleased as I was due to run the London Marathon in early April. With four weeks to go, I was taken ill on a running holiday in Portugal. I went from being as fit as I have ever been, to being only able to walk with the aid of crutches, and had to wait until I came home to find out what was really wrong with me.
It was all quite a shock as I have never had any obvious signs of psoriasis. It was not just the illness, which I had never heard off, but also the way it has changed my life. Exercise had always been an important part of my routine and now I can only take part, if and when, the illness allows.
This will be the last time I will attempt to complete a marathon and hope that, with your support, I will be able to raise funds for PAPAA.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
