We did it!

Thank you to everyone who sponsored us beforehand - and everyone sponsoring us since the walk! It was pretty tough in the heat and the last hill was a killer, but we made it round, as a team. The thought of the money we were raising for Fibro awareness kept us going...and whenever it got particularly tough, we said "Remember Major Phil Packer!" and it didn't seem too tough after all.

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Team FibroAction will be doing the Newbury Rotary Club supported sponsored walk on May 10 2009 in aid of FibroAction.

Who We Are

Our team currently consists of Lindsey Middlemiss, Simon Middlemiss, Sue Quarrie, Debbie Liddiard (& her partner Jerry) and Archie the dog.

Why Are We Doing This?

Fibromyalgia Syndrome or Fibro is a chronic condition characterised by widespread pain and hypersensitivity to pain, among many other symptoms. It affects at least 1-in-50 people in the UK, but it can be an invisible condition so many people don't realise they know someone with it.

Fibro can also be a devastating condition and our team have seen how horrific it can be first hand: Lindsey and Debbie both have Fibro.

FibroAction is a young charity dedicated to providing up-to-date information about Fibro and how to treat it, promoting research and development and providing positive and proactive support to patients. Lindsey and Sue are both trustees of FibroAction.

FibroAction has been making a difference in its very first year - with getting NHS Direct to update its online information about Fibro being a definite highlight! However, FibroAction is a tiny charity with very little support.

For more information, see www.fibroaction.org.

The Walk

The walk is being organised and supported by Newbury Rotary, but all walkers will be raising funds for their own charities.

The walk is taking place from 12pm on May 10th - 2 days before International; Fibromyalgia Syndrome Awareness Day on May 12th.

The walk will be at Snelsmore Common, near Newbury, West Berkshire and there is the option to do a shorter 4 mile walk instead of the 8 mile walk we're aiming for. We would like to get a few other people to join us - even if just to take photos and cheer us on at the start and finish, so if you’re interested, let us know.

The walk may not compare to running a marathon, but it's quite a challenge with Fibro - especially when you consider that 2 years ago, Lindsey was disabled from Fibro and walked with a cane!

Why JustGiving?

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: FibroAction gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
