Houses for Heros in Cambodia - Lisa & Russ MAG Cambodia Challenge
We have safely returned from an inspirational trip to Cambodia to build houses as part of a community project for MAG. Russ & I have been building houses for heros - amazing people, whom I share a similar experience in common. They have already suffered much worse than me, and survived a landmine accident, and then are brave enough to agree to be re-trained to return to the mine-fields to clear away the danger for others. Amazing! -they are a real inspiration to me during my recovery.
We had an amazing time, climbed a mountain, showered under a waterfall, and then onto the serious stuff - building a house and detonating a landmine - Yes Really ! - MAG actually let me detonate a landmine! An amazing part of my recovery and an absolute privlige to be allowed to 'press the button' - But VERY SCARY!

Each year between 10,000 - 15,000 are killed or injured by a landmine; yet it costs only £15 to decontamniate 10m2 of land.
Many are children, who were born long after the conflict which left their communities littered with explosives. It is so sad they wil not survive the peace.
