Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Jazzy de Lisser; I am 17 years old and was born with Hepatitis C. Over the last fifteen months I have been on Interferon and Ribavirin treatment in order to try to cure myself of the virus whilst also trying to lead a normal life including studying for my AS and A levels.   Sadly my treatment did not work but it has not deterred me in my quest for a cure, I will not give up.

I have decided to use my illness as a platform to raise awareness and funding for research into the Hepatitis C virus and other associated liver diseases, as I felt very alone and contaminated and found the information on it very limited, especially relating to and for younger people.  I also found that the general perception of Hepatitis C was also misunderstood or unknown.  In response to this lack of awareness and information and in conjunction with Mel Agace an experienced independent documentary producer, The British Liver Trust and Coco Sumner one of my best friends, we have created the ‘Liver Good Life’ campaign, which will target young people.  At the centre of the campaign is a 4 minute animated film, which brings the liver’s story to life in a format that is relevant and interesting. The background music for it has been done by Coco Sumner.I hope the message gets across that people need to choose to change their behaviour, to take control of their health, get protected, get tested and get treated!  www.livergoodlife.com

Liver problems are rising and treatment and research are severely under-funded and resourced.  This page is to help King's College Hospital raise funds for a new laboratory for the Institute of Liver Studies as the current lab is 30 years old!  I have been treated at King's College Hospital since I was 3 years old.
