Laura Smith and myself, after successfully climbing the highest mountain in England at Easter, decided that a 100 mile hike would be no problem what-so-ever! And maybe our friends and family would like to help raise funds for a cause very close to my heart.
Over 300,000 UK citizens go missing each year, from runaways due to a difficult home life, dementia, depression and mental illness, trafficing, parental abduction, abduction.
You never know when this may touch you, or someone that you love.
Here is your chance to help and support those who's loved ones are missing.
My boyfriend's brother is one such person.
Steven Cook went missing in Malia, Crete on 1st September 2005.
I'm walking 100 miles for charity, which is nothing compaired to walking a single mile in the shoes of those who's love ones are missing.
Help, every footstep I take, ease the burden of those that walk a darker, more difficult path.
On July 23rd will be setting off on the South Downs' Way, which will take us from Winchester to Eastbourne. Our aim is to complete the walk in a week with as few blisters as possible.
The charity that you will be supporting is Forever Searching.
The Founders of Forever Searching were passionate and committed to raising awareness to all missing people, and were committed to creating an organisation whose primary purpose was to raise awareness to the phenomenon of missing people throughout the world and to support the families living in limbo with a missing loved one.
One of the key factors to locating a missing person is to keep awareness high, keep the profile of the missing person visible and in the public arena. Co-Founder Kathy Atkinson says “Any poster we send out could be the one that helps a missing loved one find their way home and knowing that makes it all worthwhile”.
