Welcome to the Serpentine Ladies Loch Ness Swim fundraising page.
We are a group of swimmers from the Serpentine Swimming Club in Hyde Park. In August 2010 we will be swimming the length of Loch Ness to raise money for Afghan Mother and Child Rescue (AMCR). Loch Ness is 23 miles long and around 5ºC. A final team of six swimmers will swim for one hour each from Loch End until we reach Fort Augustus
We are supporting this charity because of the direct link we have with the work they do. Roddy Jones is a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club and is also a director of the charity. AMCR focuses entirely on the welfare of women and children in one of the poorest countries in the world. Being a such a small, hands on charity means that every single penny raised will reach the women and children targeted by AMCR.
In 2008 the Serpentine Ladies swam the English Channel in a time of 24 hours, raising £10,000 which built a delivery room. This time, the target is £50,000 - with the aim of building a 10 bed hospital in a remote area of Panjsher Valley.
