Africa Now supports enterprising solutions to poverty in Africa, making markets work for poor people. It supports farmers and small businesses that produce marketable products, and ensures they benefit from trade by promoting ethical trade policies between retailers in rich countries and poor producers in Africa.

My personal message:

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am competing in the London Triathlon on August 9th to raise money for Africa Now and I would like to have your support! 4 brave fellow challengers and myself will have the dubious pleasure of swimming 750m down the River Thames, followed by a 20k cycle and a 5k run to top it off.

Africa Now is a development organisation that helps farmers and small business owners in Africa produce and sell better products. They provide training on new innovations and technologies, microfinance (links to local banks for loans), and assistance in seeking out reliable markets to sell produce - essentially seeking to provide a 'hand-up' rather than a 'hand-out' (http://www.africanow.org/). I think it's a great cause and I'm keen to get your support!

Anyone that wants to come down on the day and watch/support//laugh at us is welcome to come along. There is a group of us going down for the races from 2-5pm and you can find directions at http://www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk/LTtravel.html.
