The Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2008 will support two charities Wellbeing of Women and ORBIS. Wellbeing of Women is the only UK charity dedicated to solving the health problems that solely affect women and ORBIS is an international development organisation which aims to prevent avoidable blindness in the developing world. Funds raised by the Appeal will go towards creating a unique international research resource to find solutions to the four main complications in pregnancy and two specialist paediatric children’s eye care centres in Jaipur and Udaipur, India where there are currently no trained paediatric ophthalmologists.
