Between Sian and I, we have raised £345 for the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, who will split the money evenly between the children's department and the ENT department. The walk was scary as (I seemed to find it scarier than Sian, I must say!), but we survived, with only minor cuts from silly Louise... trust me to manage that. Thank you for evreryone's massive online and offline support.

On December 2, I will be walking over a thousand broken wine bottles to raise money for Nottingham hospitals.
Um… Yes. You read that right. In two weeks time, on December 2, razor sharp blades from a thousand broken wine bottles will be spread along a length of twenty feet on our very own QMC campus… and I will be walking over the whole length, barefoot.
This whole thing will be to raise money for the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, which provides patient care, equipment aid, medical research, and staff training in every area of the Nottingham City Hospital and our very own QMC. These hospitals really rely on donations from the kind public over and above the basic funding they get, to be the best they possibly can be.
For anyone who is living and studying in Nottingham, we never know when we will be thankful of the care of one of Nottingham’s hospitals. For all the medics among us, we can only benefit from these charities making our local hospitals the best they can be, because before we know it we‘ll be working in one of them. And for anyone who doesn’t live in Nottingham, feel safe in the knowledge that by donating, you will be helping save someone’s life.
The walk will be held at 7pm, in the Post Graduate Education Centre on QMC campus. Anyone is welcome to come along and watch, and I will definitely be uploading photos and videos straight after the event, to prove I actually went through with it!
Before the glass walk, I will be given a motivational talk which will prepare me mentally. This has been performed in the past by people like Darren Brown and David Blaine, but I have been told I will not be in any way hypnotised; I will be totally 100% conscious. And in case you were wondering, it is totally 100% real glass, with NO sharp edges shaved off.
If you would like to support me in this feat (and believe me, I am actually terrified, this is not something I would do out of choice!), please please please give a donation on my Just Giving website. Not only will it be going towards a very real and worthwhile cause, but it might help give me some much needed courage!
I will also be coming around campus with a tin over the next couple of weeks; if you would like to make a donation of any small change- literally however small- that would make me very happy.
Please support me in this. I think I must be going crazy.
