On Saturday, 4th August, I took part in the Super Sprint distance of the London Triathlon. This was a 400m open water swim (complete with wetsuit), a 10km cycle (on my Brompton) and a 2.5km run.
I took part in order to raise funds for the PSP Association (http://www.pspeur.org/). Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) affects the area of the brain that controls balance, movement, vision, speech and the ability to swallow, all things that you need for everyday living.
Symptoms are mild to begin with, but worsen over time. For example, what may start as clumsiness may worsen into regular falls. What may start as slurred speech may worsen until getting out a single word is difficult. The rate of progression of symptoms varies considerably from person to person.
The PSP Association provides information and support to people who are affected by PSP. They also fund research into the causes and treatments of PSP. Please help me to help them by sponsoring me now.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The PSP Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
