Hello Everyone,
I have decided to take part in the London - Paris cycle from 13th June - 17th June 2007 to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
Pancreatic cancer came to my attention through my friend Linda Brown when her mum was diagnosed with the illness and died soon after in 2006. Pancreatic cancer is a particularly devastating form of the disease. Detection and diagnosis are difficult as symptoms are generally vague until the disease is advanced. The average survival time between diagnosis and death is only 6 months.
Apart from the London to Paris cycle being for a great cause, it will be a tremendous personal challenge. It consists of a 290 mile ride divided into four days. My training is well underway and over the next few months I hope to be pedalling like Mr Armstrong himself!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me as the charity, Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you and that 's a good thing.
Pancreatic cancer has the highest death rate of all cancers. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding more research is desperately required.
Thank you for any support you can give.
Louise x
