Dear Friends,
Another year, another challenge and another request asking you to contribute (in even the smallest way) towards a charity which is now so much closer to my heart.
NORTH WEST CANCER RESEARCH FUND - www.nwcrf.co.uk
Some of you will know that Lyn, a very dear friend of mine, died in January this year from a brain tumour. She was diagnosed last May, just 3 days after I'd taken part in the London Moonwalk and she battled bravely with her illness for almost 8 months.
Lyn was a truly wonderful person. A loving wife, a devoted mum to her 2 year old daughter and the most kind hearted and generous friend you could ever hope to have.
My reason for choosing the "Yorkshire Dales 3 Peaks" as my next challenge is simple. Lyn and I although both Welsh, first met whilst working in an Outdoor Adventure Centre in the Dales over 15 years ago. Just before meeting Lyn I worked for the Dales National Park where I built and repaired sections of the footpath up Ingleborough. So - to retrace those steps whilst remembering my wonderful friend and at the same time raising money for such a worthwhile cause seemed to go hand in hand with each other.
I'll be walking the 3 Peaks with a group of like minded friends on Saturday 30th May. Setting off at the crack of dawn in the hope of completing the 25 mile walk within 12 hours. Watch this space for news of how we all get on!
I'm aware that there are many good and worthy causes to contribute towards and it's impossible to help them all. However, I hope that you'll feel the North West Cancer Research Fund is deserving of your support. As a member of our local branch committee I'm always proud to tell our supporters that at least 90p of every pound they donate goes directly towards funding research. 'Research is not glamorous or appealing, but without it, the causes of cancer will never be found.'
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.
Lots of love,
Louise
