The idea to raise money for Cancer Research UK, this year, was borne from brothers Ken and Malcolm Love.
They wanted to commemorate the memory of their mother, who passed away 15 years ago this September from a rare form of bone cancer (at the time she was only the 7th case ever recorded in the UK!).

They decided to raise as much money on this anniversary year as possible for Cancer Research*

The brothers were planning on running the Glasgow Half Marathon as a twosome, however they have since been joined by other participants to form .... The Love Alliance! (geddit?)

Each competitor has their own personal motivations for running, but are collectively determined to help (in some small way!) in the fight against cancer.

Mahri, Kenneth, Peter and Melisa Tawse, whose mother has just completed a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, have been inspired to join and raise money for a cause which has recently become very close to their hearts. Melisa's boyfriend Scott will also be running to help support the cause.

Mandy & Neil Watson, close friends of Mahri & Ken, have been directly affected by cancer and are determined to raise all they can for the charity.

Steven Ingram, one of Malcolm's close friends, has had 3 immediate family members impacted by Cancer. When he heard about the team running, he wanted to join and help us raise even more money for the charity.

Adam MacIlwraith, one of Ken's best friends for many years, has joined the team to help them raise even more money for the charity. Adam has known many people affected by the disease and wanted to help in any way he could.

If you are donating, we thank you so much for your support. It really is appreciated more than can be said. It is a fantastic cause which everyone involved believes in and cares for. Whatever you can donate, however large or small (preferably large!!) is fantastic!

* As well as running the Half Marathon, the boys are organising an event in conjunction with 32Music & Cancer Research UK which will be designed to raise further monies for the charity this year. Those who are interested in finding out more we will have sites set up to advise of details soon! TBC - Together Beat Cancer

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
