Dear Sponsor

Ironman: a 2.4 mile (3.9 km) swim, 112 mile (180 km) bike, and 26.2 mile (42.2 km) marathon run. All in one go and a cut-off time of 16 hours.

Sounds scary, doesn't it?

This summer I am attempting to finish the Ironman Germany in Frankfurt in order to raise more money for the  Breast Cancer Haven as they continue to provide fantastic help to my wife Réagan. They have been incredibly supportive to help her cope with fighting breast cancer. We are both very grateful to The Haven for the continued opportunity to make use of the wonderful complimentary therapies and support systems for the past years. Therefore, I would like to continue doing my share in making it possible for others to use this Charity, by aiming to complete a full Ironman.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breast Cancer Haven will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Reagan and Harald Ludwigsen

So please sponsor me now!
Update: (15 June 2009)

A great big 21 mile run along the Thames to Richmond Park and back.  Réagan cycled next to me and passed on food & water.  My confidence was given a boost at the end, as I realized that all the training has been paying off and I still felt fairly strong at the end of the run. :-D

Update: (14 June 2009)

The warm weather has been brilliant for training.  One more hard week ending with London to Brighton (and back) next Sunday then I will start to taper.  Almost there!!!

Update (9 June 2009)

Less than 30 days to go! The Marshman (Half Ironman Distance) triathlon was a real test of character with ice cold water in the swim, torrential rain and hail during the bike and some stomach problems during the run. However I managed to finish under 6 hours but it surely reminded me that triathlon is not a walk in the park. A couple of weeks later I pushed myself a bit further in the Chiltern 100 cycle: 107 miles through the Chiltern hills. With 2500 m elevation and 21 hills on the way I was again tested to my limits and kept reminding myself that the elevation in Frankfurt will only be 1000 meters over the same distance.

Last stop will be the London to Brighton cycle, maybe even a cycle back. We will see. Trying to get more swimming in at the moment, the open water lake is getting warmer and cycling to school twice a week keeps adding on the cycling miles.

Thanks for all those that have sponsored me over the past weeks, keep those pounds coming and we can crack the £ 1000 mark soon. You guys are stars!

Update (14 May 2009)

I am amazed how much money has come in already, thanks so much everybody for your donations! This is really motivating for me and keeps me going when the going gets tough.

Richmond Half Marathon was a pleasure, running with Ian, Dieter and Andy (all much faster than me). Finished under 1.43 which is another improvement  and was very happy about the result having cycled 100 miles the day before.

Next Stop: Marshman Half Ironman in Kent. I will attempt half an Ironman distance to gauge my fitness and see how my training is doing. This better turns out well as I don't have much time to do much more :-). 6 Weeks to go .....

Update: (5 May 2009)

Training is going well, the days are getting warmer and I have successfully completed a cycling race and the season's first sprint triathlon in which I practised my transitions. More long runs and rides are needed but I am positive and looking forward to the many challenges on the way.

Next stop: Richmond Half Marathon 10 May 09 (not racing, just another training run)
