Welcome to Porl and Nicks Fundraising page,

Who are we?
Porl and Nick are uncle and nephew (respectively) who are mad/
eccentric 4x4 enthusiasts. We regularly enjoy many fun days off-roading and green laning together.
When we heard about the Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge we agreed this would be a great challenge but more importantly it is providing a great opportunity to support a charity which seems very important this day in age as there are over 200 types of cancer which effect 1 in every 3 of us. We are both young but lost several family members through cancer, in particular Porls mother / and both Nicks 2 nans.
We will be participating in Porl's Land Rover Defender 90 in the picture.
Porl's Dad; Derrick William Joynes, Nick's Grandad passed away on 06/04/2009, so in respect we have decided to call ourselves 'Dels Boys'.

The Mac 4x4 Challenge
The "Mac 4x4" is a "challenge" for 4x4 enthusiasts. It aims at testing navigational, orienteering and observation skills, with on and off road sections - depending on conditions, and endurance by day and night.  It is a very testing long weekend of fun covering between 400 and 1000 miles with various "tests" en route.
Night stops will mean sleeping in the vehicle or a tent  on the roadside which with Porl is challenge in itself!
Please visit http://mac4x4.co.uk/index.htm for more information.

Costs / Targets
We are asked to commit to raising a minimum sponsorship of £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support, but we want to go beyond that and reach £2000.

Porl and myself are responsible for fuel and sustenance en route. The costs of organising the event is borne by the entry fee also paid by Porl and myself.

Past Fundraising
The event has developed a contagious spirit and camaraderie and, although it is seriously competitive, the main aim is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Since the first run in 2002 the average amount raised per team has been over £1,000 and the 2009 event has taken the total raised so far over £1/2 Million.

Macmillan
The proceeds of all the fun - which depends on the sponsorship teams raise all go to  - The country's major charity devoted to the support, treatment and care of people living with cancer and their families. It provides much needed support for Macmillan's continuing efforts to provide better support services to everyone affected through the front line Macmillan nurses, doctors, buildings, patient grants and information services.
Please visit http://www.macmillan.org.uk/home.aspx for more information.

You
It may well seem like an unusual challenge and maybe not even a challenge, but like other people we all do it for charity, and if this is what it takes for you and ourselves to dig deep into our pockets then so be it...
We respect it may be a hard time for many, but think about those who are suffering beyond the credit crunch and please, please, please donate as much as you can so we can reach beyond the target.

Thank you very much.
