Story
Well, Pre-Cambrian Rock 2013 took an unexpected turn on 17th August! Following loss of band, a torrential downpour and forecast gale force winds, our field had to be abandoned with 24 hours to go and the event re-staged in All Stretton village hall and became a Ceiledh! Thank you so much to all who came and hurled themselves round, to the Odd Socks ceiledh band who stepped in at a day's notice and gave us all so much fun, to the talented duet of Dan and Alex who kicked off the proceedings and to Alex Littleton for DJing the disco afterwards. Also to Susannah for the simply incredible cakes, and to Thomas Reilly and Lewis Gwyther and Jonathan for all they did during the week leading up to PCR 2013.
A big "Thank You" to all runners, marshalls and helpers who supported the 2013 "Mynd Mac" fell race in April - in 2012 it took place under a blue sky and runners were bathed in sunshine, this year they ran through snow at times, with a diversion necessary where it was still waist deep, see www.myndmac.moonfruit.com . It is also a short and strenuous but lovely walk rewarded by spectacular views. Walkers' route descriptions and maps are available from Michael at michael.burton@btconnect.com. A date for your diary - next year will be on 6th April 2014.
In March 2013, once again we entered the "Mac 4x4 UK Challenge”. Organized by Macmillan supporters this is a grueling 3 day test of navigational skills, observation, on and (frequently gnarly) off road driving ability and endurance; by day and night. To date the event has raised over £900,000 for Macmillan. Once again, it was all the more of a challenge as we participated in a 20 year old Range Rover Classic still in standard form, the same as she rolled off the Solihull production line over 140,000 miles ago, save for a conversion to run on cleaner burning LPG. The result - 7th equal overall and awarded 1st in the night navigation category (Tom around clubs?)!
