About MacIntyre Housing Association

MacIntyre Housing Association provides high quality supported housing for people with learning disabilities. It currently owns or manages a number of supported living schemes and has a development programme to procure more schemes in order to provide additional bedspaces.

It has actively been building its reputation with housing authorities, social services departments, health authorities and other voluntary organisations.

Whilst registered care continues to provide a valuable resource to individuals with high and often complex care and support needs, the focus within supported housing in recent years has been to develop supported living models of housing.  This has been achieved by either developing self-contained accommodation with a staff presence on site or through the development of shared housing.

Our history

MacIntyre Housing Association was set up in 1989 by staff, friends and trustees of MacIntyre Care, a national charity providing care and support for children and adults with learning disabilities.

It achieved Housing Corporation registration in 1994.

The Association has established its independence from all the care agencies it works with to provide a real landlord/tenant relationship for residents.

Continuing support through exchange of skills and working closely together has provided an excellent service to tenants.

MacIntyre Housing Association joined Aragon Housing Association as its subsidiary in 2000 and has been actively developing its role within the Aragon Group.
